Bathing in the Legendary Waters of Ojo Caliente

This year I was invited to bathe in the "Legendary Healing waters" of Ojo Calienta mineral spring in New Mexico.

This year, I was invited to bathe in the legendary healing waters of Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs in New Mexico.

This particular resort offers a variety of sacred soaking experiences, each one unique and restorative. From Lithia and Iron to Arsenic, Soda, and my personal favorite—the Mud Pool—I spent the entire weekend cycling from bath to bath. Between the hot mineral soaks, I would take breaks in the cold plunge pool, creating a refreshing contrast that awakened my system. My skin felt incredibly soft, my energy began to return, and I could feel my body coming back into balance.

One of the most beautiful things I witnessed was the diversity of people there—young and old, well and unwell—all soaking in the same sacred waters. It was a reminder that we all need healing and restoration sometimes, and Ojo Caliente offers that sanctuary, nestled quietly within the New Mexico desert.

In addition to the communal baths, which are accessible with a day pass or as a guest of the resort, I had my very own private mineral tub in my room—a true luxury.

The rooms themselves were spacious and styled with a cozy Southwestern aesthetic, which happens to be one of my personal favorites. I had a large king-size bed, a fireplace, a small kitchen, and my favorite part—slow mornings with coffee in hand, watching the desert light shift.

At night, the entire resort glowed with soft, ambient lighting—just subtle enough to preserve the beauty of the starlit desert sky. Bathing under the moonlight gave me a sense of renewal I rarely feel in the city. There’s something undeniably magical about the healing energy of the desert.

Yoga was offered daily in a yurt on the property, located by the river. Practicing in this serene space with the sound of flowing water in the background was one of the highlights of my stay.

Ojo Caliente is a must-visit for anyone seeking refuge from the hustle of daily life. It’s accessible, affordable, and deeply restorative—a beautiful destination for solo travelers, couples, and wellness seekers alike.
